Henry R. Kravis co-founded KKR in 1976. During more than 37 years, he has participated in the financings of more than 150 businesses in diverse industries making him, along with George Roberts, one of the world's most experienced private equity investors. Currently, he participates in all the investment activities of the Firm and serves on the Investment and the Portfolio Management Committees. He is also a member of the board of directors of KKR Private Equity Investors' general partner, and Tarkett S.A. Prior to founding KKR, Kravis was a Partner in the Corporate Finance Department of Bear Stearns & Company, where with George Roberts and Jerome Kohlberg, he pioneered the use of leverage in acquisitions. He earned a B.A. from Claremont McKenna College, and an M.B.A. from Columbia Graduate School of Business.

Prior to founding KKR, Roberts was in the Corporate Finance Department of Bear Stearns & Company, where he became a partner at age 29 and where with Henry Kravis and Jerome Kohlberg, he pioneered the use of leverage in acquisitions. He earned a B.A. from Claremont McKenna College, and a J.D. from the University of California (Hastings) Law School.
